About Your questions on notice
How does this Q&A work?
Our goal is to provide students with answers to questions about the role and function of the Australian Parliament. Here's how it works:
- Check if the information is already available.
Get the ball rolling by checking if your question has already been answered or if the information you require is on the PEO website.
- Ask us about the Australian Parliament.
Make sure you complete all the categories for your question to be accepted.
- Receive notification.
A short time after asking your question you will receive an email letting you know if your question has been accepted or refused (see our Posting Policy for details). Once your question is accepted, the PEO team will start working on your answer. This could take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Just know that we're working on it!
- Get your answer.
We'll send you a message when we post the answer to your question to the site. Your question and our answer will be able to be viewed by everyone to help them with their own questions.
Why was my question not answered?
This website is about the role and function of the Australian Parliament. We will not answer questions that are not about this topic.
Your question won't be answered if:
- It's not about the Australian Parliament.
- It's a subjective comment or statement.
- It contains profanity or discriminatory language.
For more information on why a question may not be answered, please see our Posting Policy.
You will be notified by email if your question will not be answered.
What should I do if I'm not happy with my answer?
It is our aim to provide informative answers to your questions about the Australian Parliament. However, if you're not satisfied with your answer—or if it inspires you to ask another—please feel free to ask a follow-up question. You may need to reword your original question to make sure we can understand what information you are after.
Please remember, we will not complete your assignment for you!
Who's actually answering all these questions?
The staff of the PEO answer the questions to the Your Questions on Notice website. We are experienced educators who work closely with members of parliament and parliamentary officers. Sometimes we might ask them to answer a question as well.
How will my personal information be used?
The personal information you supply in your submitted question (name and home town) will only be used in the posted response to your question. If you don’t want to share your real name or home town, that is ok. Please provide a pseudonym instead. We will only use your email address to contact you regarding the status of your question.
If you have any concerns, please contact us at PEOquestions@aph.gov.au
How can I get my question removed from the website?
If you wish to request that the PEO remove your question, please submit your request to PEOquestions@aph.gov.au and clearly specify the content you wish to have removed. Please note we may need to contact you for further information regarding a removal, and will contact you at the email address from which your request originates.
