Where was parliament held from 1901 - 1927?

When Australia federated – became a nation – in 1901, the new Australian Parliament did not have a permanent home. A site for the new national capital had to be agreed on before a Parliament House could be built. Many potential sites for the national capital were considered before Canberra was chosen in 1913.

In the time between Federation in 1901 and the opening of Provisional (Old) Parliament House in Canberra in 1927, the Australian Parliament met in the Victorian Parliament House in Melbourne.
